Getting Involved

Everything you need to know about trading, pop-ups, events, and visiting the Alternative Market & Creative Hub.

What is the AMCH?

The Alternative Market & Creative Hub is a welcoming indoor creative space in Hastings for makers, artists, small businesses, and independent traders.

Alongside our regular market trading, the space is home to creative workshops, community-led sessions, and events that bring people together to browse, make, learn, and connect.

How do pop-up stalls work?

Pop-up stalls are short-term trading spaces that can be booked by the day for a flat rate of £10, ideal for occasional trading, testing new ideas, or launching something new.

Pop-up stalls are booked via the 'Book a stall' button on the home page.

Can I book more than one pop-up day?

Yes. Pop-up stalls can be booked for individual days or across multiple dates throughout the year, depending on availability.

What are permanent units and short-term tenancies?

Permanent units and short-term tenancies offer a more consistent trading presence within the market and are priced per square metre per month.

These spaces are arranged separately to ensure the right fit. To check availability and ask any questions, please enquire via the 'Get in touch' button and we'll get back to you.

Is food or drink trading allowed?

Food traders are welcome, provided they meet all relevant food hygiene and safety requirements.

To keep a good balance across the market and to support existing permanent traders, we don’t currently accept food or drink offerings that directly overlap with what’s already available on site, such as freshly prepared hot drinks or similar cafe-style items.

This helps ensure a varied and fair mix for everyone trading at the market.
If you’re unsure whether your offering would be a good fit, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise.

I want to attend events or visit the market

Visitors are welcome to browse the market, attend workshops, or drop into our regular creative sessions. Many events are open to everyone, whether you’re coming along on your own or meeting friends.

Upcoming markets, workshops, and sessions including Stitch & Chat and our monthly macramé workshops are listed on the events calendar.

Do I need experience to trade?

No previous market or stallholder experience is required.

We welcome new traders just as much as established makers and small businesses. If you’re unsure about anything before booking, we’re always happy to help.

What responsibilities do traders have?

All traders are responsible for setting up and packing down their own stall or unit, holding appropriate insurance, and ensuring any products, equipment, or electrical items meet basic health and safety requirements.

If you have questions ahead of your trading day, just get in touch.

What is a pop up stall?

Pop-up stalls are short-term trading spaces that can be booked by the day, making them ideal for occasional traders, product launches, or testing the market.

Do I need insurance?

Yes, traders are expected to hold appropriate insurance, such as public liability and product liability, depending on what they sell.

I need to use electrical equipment

Any electrical equipment used must be safe and compliant, and PAT testing can be arranged through the market if needed.

Do I need to provide ID when applying?

Yes, all applicants must provide proof of identity and right to work or trade in the UK as part of the application process.

Can I get involved in other ways besides trading?

Absolutely, we’re always open to collaborations, workshops, events, and creative ideas, so if you have something in mind, we’d love to hear from you.
